New Student Orientation
New students enter PHS on a regular basis throughout the year. However, every six weeks, space permitting, students transfer from their home school, within the district, to begin the new marking period. Their first day at PHS is spent learning from other veteran PHS students how the academic credit system works, what the rules are, and ways in which each student can succeed at our school.
During this orientation, fellow students stress the importance of "starting a new life" and taking advantage of this new opportunity to turn one's life around. The focus is on the positive and learning from their past decisions that created the lack of success in a comprehensive high school. A sense of hope is instilled in the students as they begin their new school.
