Schoolwide Goals

GOAL #1
To improve the achievement of  Peninsula High School students in all academic areas by providing a quality curriculum using technology and a focus on reading in the content areas.

A. Quality curriculum - All Academic courses will have high quality content and performance standards that are closely aligned with district, state, and national standards.

B. Use of technology as a teaching strategy - All academic courses will include at least one standards-based assignment per semester that incorporates one of the following technologies: multimedia presentations by students, Internet research, or computer applications.

C. Reading in all content areas - All academic courses will use strategies to increase reading fluency and comprehension..

GOAL #2
To ensure that all students graduating from Peninsula High School acquire relevant basic computer knowledge and skills. All students will meet the District's Email, Internet, and Word Processing Compentencies.

GOAL #3
All teachers will assess, improve, and be held accountable for their use of standards-based lessons, implementation of reading strategies, and their use of technology to increase productivity and to enhance curriculum for learning.

A. All staff will complete CTAP online assessment.

B. Teachers must participate in at least one training opportunity that will advance their compentency in the use of technology.

C. Staff will attend West-Ed Workshops as designated by appropriate curriculum council.

D. Staff will identify and choose one content standard and one reading strategy to develop a standards-based lesson or unit.

E. Staff will utilize "Backwards lesson plan" template in the creation of a stnadards-based lesson or unit.

F. Staff will create benchmark assessments for each standard chosen from above.

G. Staff will demonstrate 3-6 test-taking strategies that they have incorporated into their curriculum.

H. Staff will create and share a standards-based model lesson or unit at the end of the school year.
