January 28, 2026: Daly City Water and Wastewater Resources Department Field Trip

On January 28, several students in the PHS Polynesian Club, accompanied by Assistant Principal Fred Wolfgramm, Career Coordinator Chris Zografos and Wellness Counselor Lara Montoya, attended a field trip to the Daly City Water and Wastewater Resources Department.
Students met with Polynesian employees and learned so much about the valuable work they do and benefits they receive. We also heard individual stories from employees about their career paths and why it is important to ensure that their community has clean water.

January 14, 2026: San Mateo Trades Introductions Program

PHS Career and College Coordinator Chris Zografos organized an event with the San Mateo Trades Introduction Program (San Mateo TIP) on January 14. More than 25 students attended the session and learned about the local union construction trade opportunities.
Thank you to Zhané Schroeder and Eliana Olivas who came out to talk with our students about the tremendous opportunities available through this program.
San Mateo TIP is a partnership between the San Mateo County Union Community Alliance and Local Apprenticeship Programs that offers a certificated Apprenticeship-Readiness Training course designed to equip trainees with the skills necessary to pursue a career in green construction through state-certified joint apprenticeship training programs. December 2025: Caccia Home Services

Peninsula High School was delighted to host Caccia Home Services for a successful and highly informative career tabling event on December 2! The Caccia team talked to our students about careers in the skilled trades, including high-demand fields like Residential Service Plumber and Experienced Electrician.
Students engaged in meaningful conversations about the stability, excellent earning potential, and continuous training available in the trades. Caccia Home Services emphasized that these careers offer a clear path to professional growth right here in the Bay Area.

October 2025 Career Event
Peninsula High School Career Coordinator Chris Zografos organized a mini career event on campus during lunch on October 28. Students met with representatives from local companies, college programs and apprenticeship programs, to learn about job and career opportunities available to them after graduation.

February 7, 2025: UA Local 467 Representative Discusses Career Pathways for Plumbers, Pipefitters & HVACR Service Technicians

Thank you to Thomas Johnson of UA Local 467 for coming out on February 7 to speak with our students about the various career pathways for Plumbers, Pipefitters & HVACR Service Technicians.
Students learned about his high school experience and how he became successful in his local, he also talked about various pre-apprenticeship programs, the benefits and the typical wages of a union worker in this field.

October 11, 2024: Members of the Navy Speak With PHS Students about Various Military Careers
Thank you to Air Traffic Controller First Class Vuong Ngo; Special Operator First Class (Name redacted for security); Navy Diver First Class Zach Reiner; Navy Diver Second Class Jackson Behun; Machinist Mate Second Class Juan Moreno-Avendano; Navy Counselor First Class Brian Budd; and Aviation Electrician Chief Sixto Paguirigan for coming out to Peninsula High on October 11 and speaking to more than 25 students as a part of our Careers Exploration series organized by Chris Zografos - PHS College and Career Coordinator.
The panelists emphasized that, "Everyone is a leader, some lead from the front, some lead from the back." He also talked about the importance of the "In the absence of leadership I will take charge" mentality.
They also stressed, to the students, the importance of:
- Humility
- Acknowledging others who have contributed to your success
- Admitting mistakes
- Not being scared to make mistakes - it creates room for growth.
- Being teachable
- Wanting to grow and learn
- Wanting to be a leader
