Sophomore Information
Sophomores can voluntarily transfer into Peninsula High School to take advantage of our small school environment.
Not only does PHS offer smaller class sizes, we also offer more access to counseling support, resources, and services.
In addition to self referrals, sophomores can also be administratively transferred by the District office through the Student Attendance Review Board and the Incident Review Committee.
At the comprehensive sites, students that struggle in their freshman year are provided with various programs, interventions, and services before they are referred to PHS. Upon transferring to PHS, sophomores will be enrolled in their academic core classes and will be required to enroll in our Guided Studies program, which focuses on strengthening students' academic skills and to improve students' study habits and organizational abilities. Sophomores will also have an opportunity to explore careers within our Career Technical Education (CTE) Program.
The goal is for sophomores to be on track by the beginning of their senior year, so they have the option to stay at PHS to earn their diploma and complete a CTE pathway or transfer back to their comprehensive site to earn their diploma there.
