FRESH LIFELINES FOR YOUTH

Fresh Lifelines for Youth

PHS is partnering with Fresh Lifelines For Youth (FLY) to help provide support to our youth

FLY’s Law Program is a semester-long legal education and life skills course that teaches youth about the law and consequences of crime. Research shows that youth who are exposed to legal education are less likely to break the law.  FLY’s nationally-recognized law curriculum uses role-play, debates, and mock city council hearings to capture youth interest, educate them about the law, and build skills like anger management, problem solving, communication, and resisting negative peer pressure.

Highly trained volunteers and FLY staff teach the course in teams, developing rapport with youth and giving them access to positive role models. The course covers a range of topics, including theft, vandalism, hate crimes, drugs and alcohol, the Three-Strikes Law, Proposition 21, and gangs.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL COUNSELING SUPPORT

StarVista Logo

PHS is proud to be partnering with Insights, a program through Star Vista. Insights Outpatient Counseling program offers strength-based counseling services for adolescents and their families. Our professional staff are warm and caring, and genuinely enjoy working with adolescents. Clinicians empower youth to take responsibility for the choices in their lives. Participants and staff work together to identify hope for the future and create positive changes for themselves and for their families.

Insights Program will be conducting counseling groups at PAHS for the 2017-18 academic year. These groups will provide psycho-education around substance use, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and other issues surrounding adolescence. If you would like your son or daughter to participate, please reach out to the Wellness Counselor.

Visit the Insights website, or contact the PHS Wellness Counselor.
